Church!







There’s a tradition in some circles to begin worship with a responsive greeting, “God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good.” God was certainly good to us today! As many who read this will have just finished Sunday services, we had ours 10 hours ago - and we’re still talking about it! The pictures and videos can speak for themselves. All to say we were blessed beyond measure!

We met in a big shed, which made things warm and comfy! We worshipped and prayed and heard the Word of God for over two hours, and loved every second! We were prepared to preach, give our testimonies, and lead worship. Rather, after participating in awesome worship, we were treated to not one but two messages! As well, The children’s ministry had prepared a few songs and dances for us which we enjoyed immensely. And we were overflowing with joy when Zion, Pastor Eric’s two year old, recited all 66 books of the Bible in order!

When we debriefed, later on Sunday, the comments overflowed with thoughts of gratitude for humble worshippers who love the Lord more than they love the praise of man. It was clear to us how God is present all over the world on Sundays and today we worshipped with our Kenyan brothers and sisters. Amazing day!

    I LOVE the family of God!! I cannot wait to spend eternity with these brothers and sisters in Christ! Praise the Lord! Sing and dance and shout for JOY TO THE LORD!! What a Spirit-filled time of worship. May God continue to move mightily!!! Prayers and Praise for you all!! Amen!!

More VBS and Home Visits

 At the midpoint of most mission trips the team can face a number of challenges. It’s not uncommon for teams to face trials including homesickness, lethargy, personality conflicts, physical illness, or unforeseen seemingly insurmountable problems. With four days to go I have to praise God the students of Team Kenya have avoided all of that. Even more so, these students are being intentionally relational and sacrificial. Today was more proof.  We returned to Kariobangi for Day 2 of VBS and home visits. I won’t belabor all the details of VBS (see previous post) only to add that it’s debatable as to which group had the most energy - I would suggest it was a 5-way tie!  After lunch we dived into 10 groups of three and partnered with two of MOHI’s social workers to do home visits. Final VBS and Celebration

For our final VBS, we switched up the teams.  People who had done sports were now doing dance, people who have done games were now doing storytelling, people who had done storytelling we’re now doing music. How fun it was to see everyone step up and serve the beautiful children yet one more day!  We enjoyed one last home visit in the community and were told that in the past three days our students had visited 50 homes!  When we returned from our home visits we were brought into the main meeting room where Valley Christian students became the honored guests of Hope School Kariobangi!
